Modify a record with a formula field

Here's a cool one from Pete Fife: 
  1. if I build a URL that modifies a field value,
  2. and then embed that URL in a HYPERLINK() function in a formula field,
then I've created a clickable link within a record that automatically changes its value! Very clever.
